Mmmm, Pine cones.

This has been one of those trying weeks. I know, it's only Wednesday, but it really has been.

Lets make this a good thing bad thing blog. Surly I can list one good thing for every bad thing that has happened just so its not a pity party.

Good thing: I recived another "A" at school.

Bad thing: I somehow made the worst score ever on my final in that same class. I'm not sure how that works but I think its something like, "Yep, you don't know a thing about transmissions but you somehow beat our point system so... here's an A"

Good thing: I cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom yesterday

Bad thing: The rooms here don't stay clean for longer then a day and we had inspections today. Not yesterday when everything was clean. I then got lectured on how we need to clean up by our friendly housing rep. while all my roommates are at school.

Good thing: My boss called and told me that I could have the day off today.

Bad thing: My boss has told me this for two days now and it's because there is no work to be done at the shop. In other words, they're cutting my already very part time hours. I know there are other people that have it MUCH tougher then I do about getting work but this is still is going to make the bad things list.
(Shout out to my former job/boss/co-workers. We had it so good)

Good thing?: I ate this!

Bad thing: You don't want to know

This is classic

Speaking of food, I had the strangest dream. I finally got to eat at my favorite restaurant, Chipotle. But Ben was with me. He told me in my dream like he does in real life that he does like to eat Chipotle. BUT I MADE HIM EAT IT. Then he was in the back throwing up for the rest of my dream while we where all hanging out.

No its not! Where's the snow?!

Its here with me in Nashville!

I has snowed at school,

At Home,

And at work!

So I went about town for a little Friday night fun.
I wanted to make a fire in our fireplace. I happened to spot a guy on the side of the road selling wood so I pulled over and asked "How much for your wood?'
"20$ for this stack here" He said proudly. The stack was step up with two logs on the ground parallel and then two logs on top of those parallel to each other but facing the other way, all the way up about 3ft.
"20$?!" I said "That look like about 5$ worth"
Well it was on after that. We went back and fourth for about five min.
"These logs are covered in snow!" I said
"There isn't a better price around." He would say.

The lowest he would go was 12$ so I said I wasn't looking to spend that much and took off to logger number two.

I pulled up to the Log man and asked "How much?"
"20$ for the whole stack" he said
He had a stack of wood set up the same way but it was about five feet high
"Well I didn't really want to spent that much" I replied. "How about Ten dollars?"
"For Ten dollars you get half that stack." It was still more then the first mans amount so I said "I'll take it!" And then I made a fire...

David brought back more Deer meat but we had no room in the freezer. So he left it in the cooler in the back of his truck and it has stayed frozen! I don't think it has been above 32 degrees yet. Very cold.

Conversations with Mom.

"It's Snowing!"
"Oh no! Do you have chains for your tires?"
"Mom, its not like a blizzard its just a inch or two."
"Oh good so you're not sliding around or anything right?"
"Heck yes I am! That's the best part!"
"TYLER? You don't tell you mother these things!"
"It's ok I have four wheel drive and I'm getting around just fine. They even salted the Highways."
"Ok good."

I love my mom <3

"Scrap, art. This is scarp, this is art."

I haven't done anything today!

I went to school and we did nothing but an oral quiz on transmission parts.

SOOO BORING!

Who cares how it work just replace it.

I think that it is to close to someone lovely coming to visit, because I am having a hard time wanting to do anything. It's is my day off today and I was going to clean out my car and do a load of laundry but I didn't. I just came home and played video games.

I don't care, I think I need a day off. I wrote this blog just to feel like I did something.

"...I ate a red wax candle"

I eat the same amount of food for less money... That why it's funny when my mom says "Have you been eating?" because I have, for less money. Don't make me explain these things, no one likes to explain their own jokes at their Mother's expense.

Maybe I forgot that only young attractive girls and older women read my blog (just pick which one you want to be)

I will now try to sell out and write better for my market so the "man's blog" is now going to be more like the "Tyler's not starving blog" Wait... The microwave is broken! We're all DEAD!

Not really, that was a joke too.

I hope I don't get in trouble for this blog :(

So now to start with fresh material made for my audience.

The KIDS we're so loud today up stairs. I think that they we looking cute while they we loud though so it's alright. I love kids that are cute.

The MEN in this house are so RUDE. They get home from school and they just mess up the kitchen that I cleaned, they mess up the bathroom that I cleaned, and they don't even ask me how my day was.

The price of MILK is so high right now. I can't even fit it into my budget. I think I'm going to have to buy my own cow. We'll keep her on the patio.

SCHOOL is so great! I learn so much my brain hurts. I just wish I could go to school all the time!

I have to DRIVE somewhere today..

Alright this is terrible I can't do it anymore. I hope every one isn't returning my gifts and writing angry letters to my editor, but I just can't do it.

Try to laugh or consider how this could be funny.

I was in a truck lifted 10 feet in the air at work starting and stopping the engine when it caught on FIRE and Ben had to get the extinguisher to put it out! I thought it was funny, all I saw where people running and yelling and then lots of white powder everywhere.

I have two brand new room mates and they are very nice guys so far, Josh and Joe. The come from a one Wal-Mart town.

I received my coffee maker in the mail and I'm so excited to use it tomorrow!

OKAY, I hope all of my readers have a great day and take it easy on the hate mail.

I love you mom <3

PS I will now only use movie quotes for my blog titles. If you guess the movie you get a prize.

PSS I don't think I will every blog again.

Spider Guts and Toilet Seats (This is a Man's Blog)

I WIN! If you didn't know, there was a contest to see who could go the longest without blogging. AND I WON! Its been weeks and weeks, you probably thought that I didn't even care about blogging anymore but man you guys have no control, you just had to write something.

Well I don't even have anything to write about. I don't have any pictures and I'd be surprised if you even read this far. I will just have to write another blog about lots of little random things, but don't worry I will tie it all together some how.

I tried to fix my heater in my car because it's only getting up to about 40 degrees outside everyday now. I'm a mechanic, so I knew exactly what to do.
I took it to the shop.
Well not really, I worked on it at my shop... without getting paid. I ended up flushing the coolant trying, hoping, praying that it would fix the heat but it did not.

So I took all of the bottom dash panels off to try and find the blower door and the heater core. What I found instead was lots of dead bugs and SPIDERS!

I really don't like spiders so we went to walmart ( The spiders and I) and I bought one of those fog bomb things that kill every kind of bug and I also bought a toilet seat. This was because SOMEONE broke ours in half. It could have been me, it could have been my room mate who weighs about four of me, you decided, there are prizes.

I got to the checkout with the seat and a pack of bug bombs and the walmart guy look at me a little concerned. "Don't worry" I said "These are two very different problems."

We headed back home and I cleaned out everything from my car, took off all the panels, and lit the bomb inside the car. Then there was one.
I had just lit a bomb made for a whole house inside my car. The next day (and to this day) my car smelt heavily of poison but I breathed a little easier.

That big engine that I took apart in my last post IS going to run tomorrow and I'm happy about that.

I'm doing better at work and I still haven't dropped any one's car.

I'm looking forward to my beautiful Jessie coming to visit on the 19th and I'm very happy I found her somewhere to stay for the weekend.

David, my roommate, came back from thanksgiving with about 15lb's of dear meat. I found it in the freezer. That scene in Forest Gump when Bubba is talking about every way so make shrimp? That's our place only with dear. Its really good though.

I drink a lot of coffee now and when I got mailed this offer, I couldn't pass it up. I am going to get
1 coffee maker with a clock and pre-sets.
1 coffee mug
1 fancy coffee holder
and 2 pounds of coffee of my choice
FOR ONLY 14.99!

Great deal huh? Maybe after I get it.

Speaking of great deals here is what I say to my mom "I have only spent 20 dollars at the store for the last week and a half and I still have a lot of food left. I've really been saving money."
She says back "Oh no Ty! Have you been eating anything?"
I love my Mom :)

The best saying I have heard at school yet! I wish I could swear just once to make it better but I won't.
"If you do something like that on the job your boss is going to ride your butt like a birthday pony!"

I don't even remember what he said not to do but that is just funny.

At work the funniest thing is when my new manager comes around like the clean-freak-psycho that he is and tries to tell us to clean WHILE we are working and Will like the loud mouth that he is cuts him off in mid sentence and yells "Get to work TOM!" "Get to it man!"
So funny.

So to tie it all together what I really have to say is...

"A Spider named Tom dropped a car on Will while trying to fix the heater for the most beautiful Jessie whom is still doing well at school by spending less on food and more on dear meat, toilet seats, and coffee."

I think that does it.

Now here is something that gets my blood going

If you can't tell the top of that engine comes about to my head. Its really awesome. I was nerves after all the school that I had been though and working with all of my automobile buddy's that I wouldn't like to work on diesel engines but these past two days in the shop have been great.

I also am thankful for my instructor being one of the best I have had yet. He yells at everyone to keep them in line and goes around the shop looking for anyone that needs help. He is actually trying to help us learn something! Who would have thought?
We were able to fire up our engine before we started taking them apart and I was sold as the first one turned over.

The ground shook.

My eyes must have been so wide as my teacher let the six cylinders roar to a peak. I listend to the whistle of the turbo charger and felt lines pules with the idle. When he cut it off I was grinning ear to ear and noticed that about half my class was the same way. Diesel was awesome.

I'm glad we only did one at a time because there are a lot of these engines.

Here is a picture of the crankshaft out of one of them. The specs very, but this one weighs about five hundred pounds.

We just about got done taking them apart and I really do need this one to run when I am finished.

Thankfully its not falling apart. My last engine was broken when I got to it and my teacher said "just do what you can...". Well when all your bolts are broke and your manifold doesn't seal there's really not to much we can do. In this class we noticed that a few of our bolts were missing. I told our teacher and he said "Hang on I will go get you some new ones."
Diesel is Awesome..

Not to fear though, for all you auto techs who read this blog. I still work at badyear tire and I have lots of automobiles to deal with and talk about. I did a double take at this truck just the other day. I thought I had seen it some where before and then noticed that its the same truck that Ben has been building. Almost... its a 1970 and Ben's is a '69... and this one is not broken.

Also I get to see all the cars that I'm never going to own. On purpose. The list includes:
Anything made by Mercedes
A GMC Acadia
Anything by VW (Right now there are two Jettas in the shop that we have to push back in every night) (Sorry Angela)
A Mazda CX-7 and CX-9 (I know I used to like those)
kia, hyundai, most Fords, honda SUVS and trucks, and anything that has enough voltage to kill me. (Hybirds)
I know, I'm trying not to be a snob, but I am.

They work us really hard over there and don't give us a lot of down time. I took a picture of the break room.

There should be a sing that says "DO NOT USE" just to top it off.

There is something Wrong with you Ty-Rod

I have been nicknamed Ty-Rod at work. It is after the tie rod in the steering and suspension systems of cars and trucks.
Oh well it's better then my last job's nick name.... Ty-Stick.

Work has been going well and I get along with all the people there even though they give me weird nick names. But today I was approached by several of my co-workers after I had pulled out a car. They had that look on there faces like they had just been talking about me while I was out of the shop.
"There is something wrong with you T-Rod" said my manager. (T-Rod is short for Ty-Rod, who knew) "Yeah, we can't figure it out but there must be something really bad about you" said Will, a co-worker. "You don't drink, you don't smoke, you don't cuss, you don't go out, there has to be something that's just awful about you. We don't know what it is yet but we're going to find out!"
"I don't know" I said "I'm not really that good of a person."
"Come on" said my manager "There has to be something that you do."
I thought about it for a little while trying to think through the many sins I have that I could tell them about and then I knew what it was.
"I love rock-n-roll!"
They all laughed and didn't really think that it was a good answer but it has been doing good for me for a long time. Rock-n-roll is one of the best and worst things about life, just like all the terrible things that they like to do.

They're all going to hell... not really, but seriously, they are.

This is how you fix an exhaust leek in Tennessee

Just cut the whole thing off

This is what I have been doing at school

Dear God let this engine run when we put it back together.
